Morning sickness, constipation and heartburn can cause significant discomfort.
Herbs for Morning Sickness: ginger taken in capsule or tea form, catnip, dandelion, peppermint, spearmint and red raspberry leaf. Eat white foods: crackers, whole wheat toast, pasta, rice. Consume small and frequent meals.
Remedies for Constipation (caused by hormonal changes that cause the muscles and digestive tract to relax): fresh fruit, dried fruit such as raisins, prunes and figs, dark leafy green juices, increase amount of fiber in diet, drink 8+ oz of water each day and walk / exercise often.
Recommendations for Heartburn: do not consume spicy foods, alcohol, coffee, baking soda or antacids. Remain active.
Nutritional Recommendations: vitamin B complex, iron, protein, quercetin, vitamin C, zinc.
Overall Herbs: alfalfa, blessed thistle, burdock root, dandelion, ginger, st. johnswort, shepard’s purse and nettle.
